Tips for keeping your sanity while working from home and homeschooling

During this unprecedented time where more and more of us our working from our home laptops while trying to homeschool our children…it’s very easy to go a little crazy!!! Here are some tips from one working mom to the next.

KEEP A DEDICATED WORK SPACE

Whether it’s the kitchen table, home office or a desk set up in the middle of your living room keeping a dedicated space will keep things organized and help you feel more in “work mode”. We use the kitchen table with a 3- fold poster board as a divider.

GET DRESSED

Showering and getting both you and your kids ready before the school/work day will free up time after work for the “normal” at home activities

OFFER REWARDS

I am so not above paying my child to do his school thing while I do my work thing… Sorry not sorry!  I have purchased more V bucks in the last 9 months than groceries.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

On your lunch hour, shut the computers off and go take a walk or do a work out video.  On rainy days my kids love to play Wi games or just have silly living room dance time.  Get moving…this also helps with the Covid 19…19 being pounds gained from being shut in the house!

AT 5:00 SHUT IT DOWN

Know when to end your day! It’s easy to stay plugged in to get some extra work done but your kids need you to change hats from worker bee to mommy bee (or daddy bee)

EMBRACE THIS TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY

I have spent so much time with my kids during this quarantine that our relationship has improved tenfold.  I can remember the days that I longed to stay home and spend the day with my babies.  Before we know it, things will be back to “normal” (whatever that is).  I am NOT looking forward to leaving the house when the sun is still low and coming home when its almost dark…neither are our children.

Good luck and remember…family first always!
